Branch Meeting

Greetings shipmates...hope you all had a great 4th of July celebration.  I'm back home from Winthrop and want to get off an email to you ASAP to let you know about our upcoming Branch 245 meeting.  This month we will have an Informal Lunch Meeting at C.J.'s Restaurant at Birch Bay.  It's right across the road from the beach front in the middle of the "strip."  We'll meet somewhere between 1100 - 1130 on Wednesday, 21 July, 2010.  Good clam chowder and seafood.  We have several topics to discuss but the main one will be our upcoming annual picnic.

This year, to give S/M Gene and MaryAnn a break, I have volunteered to have it at my house at 5546 North Fork Rd., Deming, WA.  Date and time: Starting at High Noon on Saturday, 14 August, 2010.  I will send you a map to my place later.  It is easy to find (for me).  From Bellingham, take Rt. 542 (Mt. Baker highway) to just past the 17 mile marker, then take the next right onto Mosquito Lake Rd. (there's a bldg under construction on the corner).  Follow that road about a mile + or - by the fire station and across the Nooksack River bridge (you will see a silo in the distance soon after you cross the bridge..that's my place), continue and take a left at the first road (North Fork Rd.), proceed up that road 1/4 mile + or - to the first set of mail boxes, then hang a right onto Olive Rd., which is a dead-end gravel road.  Go up this road a 1/4 mile + or - to my house, which is the 1st house on the RIGHT.  You can park in the cow pasture but please watch where you step!  We have lots of parking space.   If I can remember, I will have signs posted at the beginning of Olive Rd.

If you're coming from the north, you can't get to my house from there....just kidding.  You can go via several routes, depending how far north you are.  Come via I-5 to Axton Rd. exit and then go east to the Guide Meridian, then go south to the Smith Rd. red light.  Hang a left and continue east to the Mt. Baker highway, turn left onto Mt. Baker highway and continue on thru Deming and follow the above directions.  From the Lynden/Everson area, you can go south on the Hannegan Rd. and my favorite route is go east on the Hemmi Rd. past the Deming Log Show grounds to the Mt. Baker Highway.  From Sumas/Everson area go south on the Lawrence Rd. to the Mt. Baker Highway.  From Sedro Woolley, Burlington or Annacortes area,  come north on Rt. 9 to Mt. Baker highway then hang a right and follow above directions.  If you get lost, call me:  Home:  592-5693.  Cell:  927-2070.

I'll let you know the particulars after our July meeting.  In the past, Branch 245 has furnished the meat and beverages (non-alcoholic) and the ladies bring salads and deserts.

Looking forward to seeing you local shipmates that can make it on Wed., 21 July.

Yours in Loyalty, Protection and Service,

Bob Baisden
